Changing the life of a few, to impact many.
Precious Counselling & Mentoring is a Community Interest Company based in the London Borough of Enfield, set up to provide proactive, preventative support in place of crisis intervention — for individuals, families, schools and the organisations who refer them.
Stretched services need proactive support, not just crisis response
Psychological and mental health services are stretched thin across the country, and too often people only get help once a crisis has already happened. Precious Counselling & Mentoring exists to get there earlier — helping young people and families "make more positive decisions, affecting future outcomes for themselves and improving our community."
We provide counselling, mentoring, creative therapy and advocacy services directly to individuals and families, and deliver behaviour and psychological intervention programmes in partnership with schools, colleges and Enfield Council.
Our core objectives
Everything we deliver is built around a small number of clear aims.
Aspirational support
Encouraging positive choices and life improvement, rather than simply managing a problem once it has already taken hold.
An alternative to risk
Offering young people at risk of criminality or negative behaviour a genuine alternative path, before those patterns set in.
Social skills & self-perception
Enhancing social skills and self-perception through goal-setting, building self-esteem using a solution-focused framework.
Counselling for low-income families
Delivering tier 2 counselling to low-income adults and their families, so cost is never the reason support is out of reach.
Services offered
- Counselling — a person-centred approach incorporating CBT, psychodynamic, Gestalt and creative therapy
- Holistic mentoring — a solution-focused brief therapy model, delivered where it suits the person
- Creative therapy — for children and young people who find words hard to find
- Advocacy services — delivered in partnership with Mind in Enfield & Barnet
BACP-registered practitioners
All of our counsellors hold BACP registration, with professional backgrounds in youth work, school support and children's social care — so every session is led by someone with real experience of the systems families are navigating.
